Facial serums are relatively new on the skincare scene and because of this they tend to cause a bit of confusion. Most consumers don’t really understand why we should use them and how they work. Therefore, we have decided to explain all in this week’s blog and tell you why we think restorative seaweed serums are the best choice for dry or aging skin.
What is Facial Serum?
In short, facial serums contain highly concentrated active ingredients that quickly penetrate the skin, and normally have a gel like formulation and texture. They are boosters, light and absorbent and are used in addition to moisturizer or lotion. The active ingredients in a serum penetrates your skin faster and more effectively than any other product on the market which makes them the best anti-aging products available, add seaweed and you are onto a winner!
And yes facial serums are the most expensive items in your skincare routine it’s true, but don’t forget you don’t need to use a lot at one time, a 30ml container should last you months! Also facial serum significantly decreases the amount of moisturiser you need to use when you use them in conjunction with each other.
Why use Facial Serum?
Every product in your skincare regime should contain antioxidants and organic cell enhancing ingredients, and your serum should have the highest concentration of these! A serum will not replace your Me Time, Even Pure or Pearlesque day time moisturizers or your Dream Cream or Dusk to Dawn night crèmes but simply boost and enhance their anti-aging results and your skin’s overall appearance . If you have oily combination skin sometimes a good serum can replace your moisturiser altogether but its dependent on what works for you as an individual. All in all you should use facial serums to boost the results of all the other products in your routine. Serums create channels in the pores of the skin which allow your moisturiser to penetrate far deeper than would be possible by using it solely. By using both a serum and a moisturiser daily your products become more effective and the results far more visible!

When to use my Facial Serum?
You can use your serum once or twice daily depending on how dry or damaged your skin condition is. We recommend applying a thin layer under your SPF or makeup to help repair skin and protect it from environmental damage and also at night time after exfoliating and cleansing you can slather it on! Night time is the most important time to use as serum as during your sleeping hours the body’s main concern is to reproduce, renew and repair cells, so the skin is reaping the optimum results from the serum.
